Check your ski and do a soft file of the top edge of any sharp spots. Might help.

I know there are differences but personal experience is that my 6.2 in my Truck would detonate on anything less than 93 octane. The lower the octane the worse it got. Computer could not adjust enough to eliminate it.

Is that a custom built tab on a Malibu Boats rudder? Should be able to back off the tab bolts and reposition the tab slightly toward the drivers/port direction to reduce the pull to port.

Have a 20 Senate Pro and had the stock fin set to factory specs. Have not hit the course yet but free skiing there are a few things that are immediately noticeable once I put on the WF. Am now 10 sets in with the WF. Ski carves a tighter arc. Get more angle. Ski gets in front of you better at the completion of the turn so you can get into a stronger, arms against the vest position. Being a 15-28 off guy this fin makes it easier to perform the fundamentals necessary for success.

The amount of ideal torque will vary with the individual. For me I filed a bit drove it, filed a bit more, drove it. Until I had the feeling I wanted. At slalom speeds I wanted to be able to have enough torque that when I needed to steer the boat to the right I just had to release pressure on the wheel with my left hand at around the 10 o’clock position and the boat would go right at the appropriate response rate that I didn’t have to apply pressure on the steering wheel in that direction. Hope that makes sense.

Grind right side/drivers side a bit at a time. Starboard is a longer word than Port so it associates with longer words, Right/Green. Port is a shorter word than Starboard so it associates with shorter words, Left/Red. Couldn't keep it straight till I remembered this.

Have the FM guard. One great additional benefit is that after a fall or end of set let go the handle glides on the water without spinning and getting all twisted up.

Very important topic! The wrong fabric type/thickness and length can making getting out of the water a lot more effort. Have thrown some shorts away because if it.

You may not need the wing at the longer lines. I tried the wing off on my old green Vapor years ago...it didn’t turn well with it off.

I don’t have experience with ceramic coatings but this is inexpensive, easy to apply, wipe off and lasts longer than regular wax.

These look so nice on the water. But they are a fairly steep deadrise hull. Think around 15-18 degrees deadrise. Not flatter bottom like most. That usually translates to firmer longer line wakes. But it is a light boat so that will help. Have not skied one so don’t know definitively.

Exhibit E- In 2015 Malibu brought back the response hull with a walk-through open bow and a rear trunk that you could open from either in the boat or from the swim platform. It was the Response LXR. Did they even sell any of those? I would think everyone would have thought, “well if I’m spending that much money I may as well spend a little more and buy the TXi”.

I have a Prostar so a different rudder shape than yours. Article and pics below about a Malibu rudder that a guy did. He took off a fair bit. The key is to do a bit at a time and test. @dbutcher eyes are deceiving you. Rudder not bent. Notice the rudder and strut are not lined up perfectly in the picture so that makes it look off a bit.

This is a Prostar not a Malibu but both are left hand props. The factory grind (shown here before filing) created more torque to the right than I wanted. I hand filed the starboard side (arrows point to) in increments till I achieved the amount of rudder torque desired. Filed a bit, drove it, filed some more, drove it. Until I ended up with the amount of pull to the right desired. You want to maintain some pull to the right as it takes any play/slack out of the steering. Driving a boat through the course with neutral steering will make it more difficult to maintain a straight path. You want to have enough pull to the right so that the wheel will move right quickly enough when you relieve pressure from it to maintain your straight line but not so much that it’s a beast to hold on to.
