  1. 87 on our little slice of paradise in MI. Too warm, looking forward to cool front blowing in tonight. Should bring it to low 80s over coming days.
  2. I dislocated both of my shoulders a number of times between my late teens to early 30s. I think your age and the severity will determine recovery period. For me, any way, it was a week to maybe 6 weeks. 3 months sounds pretty conservative, but I've found that even small injuries take way more recovery time now that I'm 50! Your body will tell you when ready!
  3. Mostly my pride. And retirement savings...
  4. I have the 5.3 H5 in my '16 200. Shows about 3800 @ 34.2. No complaints about fuel consumption, much better than my previous carbed '92! It's a fantastic, torquey, responsive engine that fits this boat well!
  5. See, this is what happens when April weather blows for a large part of the US. Neurosis prone slalom skiers can't release their anxieties behind the boat and start nitpicking at awesome new hardcore ski boats with crazy scenarios!
  6. That was painful to watch; who videos in portrait?! :D
  7. Just noticed that the Denali is $500 off right now. It doesn't help me because I got mine in August, but wow, if anybody was thinking about a perfect Christmas present for oneself...
  8. No worries @Horton, it was just a comment by the creator of the ski which you deleted. :D
  9. Big storm blew through Saturday night here in MI, so I got to spend a beautiful, 80 degree October Sunday doing this instead. :(
  10. Larry designed that ski as a way to break the bad habit of putting too much weight on the back leg. Larry is a very forward thinking genius
  11. You're a tougher man than me! I need a full length 3/2 for that water temp. I did buy a Camero Blacktec 1.5 top about a month ago for chilly mornings and love it. I need a new full length and was checking out the Stokes.
  12. Nor socio-economic philosophy as it pertains to waterski manufacturing; I absolutely agree. It's just too intertwined with hot button politics, and we have way more than enough of that everywhere else!
  13. I'd consider that more socio-economic philosophy than political statement, but we digress...
  14. Yeah, I don't think he was doing that on purpose. Question is, why did the driver keep pulling him for so long?
  15. @eleeski, you order whatever you want at the gravel bar, as long as it's on the rocks.
  16. @skibrain my wife and I have a similar situation. Most of the time, between work, travel, and 4 young kids, we just have to sneak in a quick ski when we can. Usually 30 minutes from walking out the back door to walking back in. Here's a couple of shots my 9 year old daughter took on Thursday evening, right after I returned from the airport from of business trip. Nice way to relieve the stress of travel!
  17. @Andre how am I off topic, or was that just a fat finger?
  18. I love glass, with that swish of the ski slicing through it, but I tend to ski better with slight ripple. I tell my wife, after my inevetible fall in the turn on glass, it's just too slippery! It sure is pretty though. Here's a shot of wifey getting ready in 47f air temp yesterday on some.
  19. What the heck did that guy hit, a big fish?
  20. @roberto I just told my wife I was buying myself a new ski as a 50th b-day present to myself, but I didn't tell her how much it was! She thought it was a great idea, as she is a skier and understands a bit how it is. A couple weeks later, she asked how much. Me: you don't want to know. Her: a couple hundred? Me: uh, add a 0. Her eyes got kinda big, but she let it go at that point. Probably because we had just finished a beautiful morning session and were still in the boat. Back to the Denali, it's worth every penny. Like the others mentioned, it took a couple of rides to acclimate, but by ride 3 I was smiling, and by ride 4 I may have actually been giggling and yelling Weee at the completion of turns!
  21. @Than_Bogan I very rarely switch skis, keeping a ski typically around 6 seasons. Horton probably skis on as many skis in a season or two as I have in my lifetime. He's also developed a pretty good knack of analyzing a ski's attributes and deficiencies and writing them down in an understandable way. Therefore, I'm interested in hearing his thoughts on the ski relative to his much larger knowledge base than mine. Plus they're usually a fun read.
  22. I spend most of my time at 28 off, 34mph, and I'm absolutely loving mine after only 5 outings. I've always struggled with my offside turns, but the Denali makes them feel so good and natural. The ski is blazing fast, and to me, at least, really wants you to carry speed into the turn. The turn itself is what makes the ski so special to me. It feels like it is on rails, and sets me up perfectly at the exit. I've been skiing over 35 years, and I've never experienced anything like the feeling being so stable and locked in on those turns, especially my offside. I'm really looking forward to Horton's final review.
