  1. @brady I'm still planning on having you up sometime soon. I have three tournaments in the next seven days so probably not for a week or so. You should come up and ski in the Bear Hollow tournament on Saturday. They have a novice division so you can get a mulligan if you don't make your first pass.
  2. 99.9% of the time that you tell a noob to bend their knees it will cause them to get in a worse position. Stand tall and straighten your legs is usually the better cue to get a skier to move there weight forward. @horton I thought you were on the straight legs bandwagon!
  3. My question is do you think Regina is always trying to split the gate like that? Intentional strategy to arrive on time to one ball or was she just being cautious?
  4. Gilbert lake holds my pb twice. We always try to make it up there for a tournament at least once a year.
  5. Have you filled out your bracket yet? I think this is a really cool idea! http://goode.com/blog/company-general/bracket/
  6. @brady you passed at least 4 or 5 ski sites that already exist on your way up there and if you drive another 30 minutes north you will get to two more. Let me know if you want to ski on your way down.
  7. I think we can just throw Nate out as an outlier the guy is a freak of nature. We can learn things from his technique but I don't think everyone should try to emulate his body type.
  8. I've been experimenting with my body weight a bit this season. Last year I was 6'0" 158lbs. This off season I went on a very purposeful mass gain and I'm up to 173lbs. I monitored my strength to weight ratio very closely. I actually gained a few pull-ups and muscle-ups with the added weight and of course my barbell lifts went through the roof. As for how I'm performing on the water. First tournament was two days ago and I got 1.5 at 39 that's a good score for me especially this early in the season. I'm ahead of where I was last year at this point. I look feel and perform better at this weight and that is answer enough for me. My two cents... lean is good but too lean will cost you some strength.
  9. As a matter of fact I think I have a much better chance of seeing a piece of 41 on the lake then I would on the golf course.
  10. I've hit 38 several times on a waterski but I will never see it on the golf course...
  11. Watch ran right over the top of this 4 ball at 38 and the ski barely moved (bubble buoy). If this was a regular buoy I would have needed surgery for sure.
  12. @jimbrake destroyed the rope of the handle but the ski was fine. I'm still skiing on it. My back took a little jerk before the dual lock released but other then that I was fine. It happened so fast I would have had no idea what happened without the high speed camera.
  13. @klindy ha ha ha yeah the film crew is just part of my entourage. No they were there filming a promo video for ski buddy's company and I got to be the test monkey. Just happened to catch the weird crash on film with a high speed camera.
  14. My question is how many of you that run double power shells remove the spring assembly on the back boot? I think the majority of people remove the spring assembly because they don't like that much movement in the back foot but it also requires them to put on a ton more dual lock because of the increased leverage the rear boot puts on the plate. I've released 3 times this week from my double power shells all appropriate releases. And I know without a doubt dual lock saved by body in this crash when the rope actually wrapped around by ski.
  15. Well I've been working on some of these points for over a week now and I've started running some 38's again. Even got 3@39. Still lots to improve on but I feel like I'm moving in the right direction. Tournament at Goode lake on Wednesday so it's time to put it to use.
  16. @wish that is a great question. One thing is for sure I have to get in better positions of leverage and although I didn't think you were right when we first started this conversation I think you are spot on that it is all going wrong in the transition. By my shoulders getting pulled up and rotated towards the boat I never regain the open to the boat position that allows my COM to move in the direction I want to travel when exiting the turn which puts my hips behind. Bottom line I have to find a way to get closer to the handle in the transition and open my hips and shoulders throughout the turn especially at the finish of the turn so the ski doesn't stall so bad out of the two and four turn.
  17. @skier2788 Thanks for the offer I might take you up on that.
  18. Thanks for all the input. After going to the lake and trying a few things I've decided I'm never going to look like Nate when I ski. So I'm working on another video side by side with Will. He has much more of a traditional turn and I think I can emulate him better then Nate because Nate is just superhuman. The secret will be when I shoot video a month from now if I can actually improve on some things.
  19. @ral yes I was using coach's eye. I've never used iAnalyze before. This is the first time I've really used it for waterskiing. I learned about it from an Olympic Weightlifting coach who used it to analyse my O-lifting technique.
  20. I'll be there. My wife and I have a day off between when we ski. Any tips on what we should do outside of watching skiing? We will have a 16 month old along with us.
  21. @wish I agree with you I think the ski out front butt back in the transition is a good thing. It happens to everyone who is elite through the edge change.
  22. Nope 38 atl pro am video starting at 11:09.
  23. This is why Nate makes money at this sport and why I'm just a guy with an OM next to my name. Very interesting to see the striking differences when skiing in sync side by side. I should have at least let the rest of the video roll, sorry. I crashed at 5 ball.
  24. @matthewbrown did I understand what you were talking about? @wish @6balls what do you think? @horton haven't heard from you yet.
  25. @matthewbrown Thank You! I think we are making some progress now. I'm going to break the video down on the coaches eye app. later so you can tell me if I'm understanding what you are talking about. Stay tuned and I'm sure @tbrenchley appreciates the driving advice too! :) And @6balls I agree about rising up over the bindings at the two ball.
