  1. @tbrenchley absolutely crushed a 38 at the Goode tournament today and then decided he wasn't done and got a PB 3@39 it was only his 5th set on the ski. When he arrived at the dock his only response was, "Dave I could kiss you!"
  2. @tbrenchley felt (I was driving) very good on that ski. I'm confident it's going to get him consistently through 38 and deeper into 39. We have a tournament tomorrow so who knows maybe the 5th set on it will be a tournament pb. Tylor you do know that after the tournament I'm probably going to make you rip those bindings off so I can give it a rip.
  3. @goodeskier prove @richarddoane wrong. Unless your course is narrow I think you will do fine in a sanction event.
  4. Girls coaching girls is always a good thing. Or even interpreting what you are saying. Sometimes I'll say something to my wife and and she will spit it back to me in a different way and I'll say... "I guess if it makes sense to you like that???" and then she skis way better.
  5. Nate does it at every turn @39 in the above video (1:38). Just my observation...
  6. ha ha ha poor @AB. You were the first to talk about getting higher on the boat. All the Cred goes to you. However I don't really agree with the first part of your critique. Pulling your arms in and letting them out is just how you deal with load at short line everybody does it. And I also don't really see myself getting pulled forward into two ball either. I paused it at the first wake and you can't really get any more stacked then that.
  7. That being said there are lots of different ways to get it done in this sport. Look at the difference between nate's gate at 41 (2:20) and Wills (2:38). These are the two best in the business and they couldn't have more different approaches to the gate. Nate is super high fast and Will is much lower.
  8. @Than_Bogan @Bruce_Butterfield I've been working on getting higher on that damn gate all year. I'm definitely higher then I've ever been in the past but I still have work to do. Look at the difference between my old 38 and the new 39 video - a lot higher but I think you are right a higher would be better.
  9. @wish you are right the problem really develops in my inability to get out of the two ball which is weird for a righty. My line into that ball is just not quite right. The interesting thing is when looking at the video I think I protect the handle better at 2/4 then I do at 1/3/5. I'll work on coming up even earlier and see if that puts me on a better arc at the ball. I think I need to do more of my arcing inside the bouy line so I don't create so much down course speed (causing the big sweeping turn at the finish).
  10. @ToddF That is a great observation. I totally agree with you that any energy given back to the boat in the form of excessive knee bend is energy that isn't going cross course. Unfortunately that is a symptom of a problem and not the problem itself. The load is so great coming out of two/four that I have to do something to soak it up in order to hang on.
  11. Last time I posted some video of myself it was 4.5@38 and the Ballers really helped me progress. Today I got to the 5 ball twice at 39. More then anything I've been working on getting in better positions of leverage and not giving anything back to the boat. The side by side video is my 4.5@38 that I posted last time compared to my 4.5@39 today. I need more advice to get me through this pass! Help please you don't have to be able to ski 38 or 39 to comment.
  12. I made it to the five ball again twice today. I've got some video of it this time so I'll post it later.
  13. @markchilcutt with nationals moving a little closer to us next season we should get a group from UT to make the trip.
  14. @Than_Bogan I'll start my own thread when it happens in a tournament. :) Or I hope to get some new video of my skiing to compare side by side. I have gotten way more consistent @38 and deeper into 39 then I was when I posted the video of myself and Nate side by side. Hopefully that will give us some better insight into what is really happening that has helped me improve.
  15. I'm loving this thread. I've started to feel "in" 39 for the first time the last couple of weeks. I've gotten to four ball a bunch of times and today I even got there on time but choked when I realized I had a shot to run the pass for the first time. @bishop8950 I loved this comment. "Shortline is way more about what you do side to side than the turn." The biggest thing that has gotten me through 38 consistently and now into 39 is getting in better position to create leverage. At 39 if you give any energy back to the boat from white water to center you are done and if you don't get enough leverage to create a lot of speed from white water to center you won't be able to get off the edge early enough to get on the correct arc and you will be done. I've never felt so good and at one ball and so done at the next like I do if I make a mistake at 39. The margin for error is just gone.
  16. @goodeskier I love your list. I'd say number 3 has as much to do with my success on the water as anything. Count your lucky stars you have a wife who loves the sport as much as you do.
  17. That was some good looking skiing. Your timing is great coming up at the center line. In my opinion you just need to be more aggressive from white water to center of the boat. Speed is your friend at 36 you need it to travel higher on the boat which is ultimately what gives you width. Get after it!
  18. Condolences. Thanks for posting this it made me reflect on what's important. He sounds like a great man.
  19. I purposely put on lbs this year went from 6'0 158 to 175 during the off-season and I'm skiing better then I ever have. I had to go to extreme measures gain it though. http://stronglifts.com/gomad-milk-squats-gallon-gain-weight/
  20. Sounds like you need to gain some weight ASAP... How tall are you?
