  1. Oh, I almost forgot. Michelle smith from the speed channel may have waterskied. There is a similarity between carving turns on two wheels, and on a waterski. I think that mrs. Bog boy would agree, as she also rides her own motorcycle.
  2. Douglas, my beginner 2 cents worth. Get a modern beginner course capable ski, like a triumph, or similar. Slow speed down to about 26mph. Pull out really wide, coast, handle in direction of travel, handle low, chest up, and ribs through the arms, pull the m.o.f. Pillion out of the boat to the center, think 3 o'clock and don't worry about making it through the entrance buoys. This should put you wide and early for 1. Fall into your turn, kiss the back of 1, trust and keep your fall, don't screw around, and go! Think 9 o'clock, pull the m.o.f. Pilot out of the boat, and repeat.
  3. I think Adrienne barbeau must have been a waterskier. She looked pretty confident in the swamp among the cypress trees. May have taken lessons at cypress gardens. Pamela Anderson probably waterskied, being a life guard and all. Valerie perrine jumped right in and saved superman. She must have waterskied. Linda Vaughn, the hurst girl may have waterskied. Many car racers are also waterskiers, and they could have introduced her to waterskiing.
  4. Ran my first full pass with my new 2013 s2, including the entrance buoys at hill top today. Thank you Steve miller & geno for the help & coaching.
  5. 2012 & 2013 are both s2's, I think. I was upgraded from a new 2012 s2 to a new 2013 s2 do to a factory insert failure. Nice! I asked the dealer if there was any changes what so ever, and he told me a slight more tail rocker in the 2013, but a local dealer doesn't think this is so. The 2013 seems to ski the same as the 2012 demo that I tried a couple weeks ago, but i probably couldn't tell anyway. Anybody input on this?
  6. Ditto what sdnah2o, but for me it is about 33/26 mph.
  7. Ed, good luck your tournaments. Second day free skiing on my new s2. Wonderful ski. I will ski it on a course this week. I already maid all 6 buoys a couple weeks ago on a demo s2, so I know I can do it.
  8. Ed, and switch from your s2?
  9. Motorcycling (bmw1200gs), lap swimming, walking the dog, boating and using the sea do's, traveling with my wife. Whoops, wrong order, wife first.
  10. We had a great ski at bow lake last night. Mark lord was a guest coach, and after looking at one of my sets he told me to "think 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, and you can have a cocktail before your buoys". This really helped me get earlier and wider. Some of my ski partners over the years have been harping on me to "ski open to the boat", and I never really did completely. I guess I am more of a closed style skier. Has anyone else thought about this?
  11. That maharajah looks like a "low taper " design.
  12. Btw, someone changed my moniker from dark green to red and blue. It doesn't look so boggy anymore.
  13. Live2, I am 6.3, and only 192, but I like bigger skis. I have had great luck on my 2012 69" triumph in the course at low speeds. Last Monday I demoed a 67.5 s2 at bow lake, and I loved it. It surprisingly skied me down to 26mph in the course, and I ran a full pass on my second pass. It felt like it supported me almost as good as the triumph in the course at the lower speeds, plus I could tell it was just oosing with performance potential. I have been known to pull the trigger too soon on skis that are too advanced for me, but I just ordered a new 2012 close out s2 anyway. I honestly do not think I am making a mistake. Am I crazy? I Hope not. It also felt super stable and user friendly. Wish me luck.
  14. Mali, btw, the 69" will free ski you just fine at 32mph.
  15. Mali, I suggest that you stay with the 69". I am your height& weight, & use a 69" 2012 triumph in the course now at 26mph. You may want to slow down a bit to get through the course. The 69" will allow a slower speed for you vs. a 67". I am gradually trying to work up in speed, which the 69" will still allow.
  16. I would guess closer to thager's est. mid-late 60's.
  17. I have noticed that my stepped bottom triumph whistles. Not sure if the cause is the bottom, or the fin, but I haven't noticed it on other skiis. Almost 40 years ago I remember my brother in law say he could hear his Connelly hook whistle. It had tiny grooves on each side of the tunnel.
  18. If you still have the inserts (or if you don't, you can get some from Wiley's), you might want to enlarge the holes a little, make sure the depth is shimmed even with the ski, pour in some mixed 2 part epoxi with a syringe, and drop in the inserts, making sure they are centered. I put inserts in my old b.f.s, this way, and it worked pretty well.
  19. I just received and installed a nice waterline cover, to replace my rub strip cover on my s/n 196. It covers the swim platform, and all of the blue gell coat now, but stops coverage about 5" above the chine, which is white, not blue. the company offers a curtain, which can be sewn on, which will cover that last aprox 5" of white gell coat. My question is should I get the curtain, or not worry about it. My gues is that white gell coat isn't nearly as sensitive to sun fade/wear as blue, and it would only take me a few minutes a couple times a year to wax the white strip. Or does white get really bad from the sun? Thanks.
  20. Richard, that's a really nice looking boat. Love the orange & black color design.
  21. After 7 weeks off, while recovering from the removal of 2 bone chips from my rear foot, I free skied a couple times, then I went to bow lake yesterday and skied a short set, and made 3 out of 4 passes. It felt great. My lesson learned is to use plenty of dawn soap so your foot slips in nice and easy. I just read in another post about using proper binding lube. I have not used binding specific lube. Does it stay in the boot longer, and allow you to come out of your bindings easier at the end of the set, or in a fall? Thanks.
  22. The new triumph! I have tried quite a few skis, and I think the triumph has the the best blend of performance, and is very easy to ski on. If I may, don't get it too short. I have read a number of posts suggesting the triumph at a shorter length than they should be on. Look at the ho weight ratings, and let the ski do what it is designed to do. Support the skier in the course at slower speeds while providing great performance.
  23. Uh, does that mean that I should remove my 69 ho sticker, or leave it on? I think I will leave it on, & keep people guessing... Or maybe not guessing.
