  1. Yesterday I had the privilege of being invited to radar lake to ski and help with some spring course maintenance with Eddie, Richard, Sam, and Gary. Mrs O'Brien drove up to the dock on her John Deer utility vehicle while tending to their compound, and we had a nice chat. What a beautiful place!
  2. Ef23, I saw the d3 ad in waterski mag which said "ski d3 for free.". I decided to call, & I spoke with Paul Crofford. He explained the x7, and the fusion to me. He shipped a 69 x7, and a 68 fusion. I was fully expecting that if I liked one, it would be the x7. I rode up the lake at 34 mph, & back at 28mph, to simulate running the course. To my surprise, the fusion handled 28mph as good or better than the x7. Plus, the fusion just seemed more fun. I went with my gut, fun instinct & bought the fusion. I was planning on trying an s2, but I never did. I am very happy with the fusion, and having a great time.
  3. Roger, cool. You don't need no stinking sport ute.
  4. Hipsup, I also recently bought a d3 fusion about a month ago. I have been skiing the heck out of it, almost every day, & I'm having loads of fun. (free skiing so far). I really like the nice etchings on the fin, I figure you almost don't need to measure to know pretty much exactly were the fin is. Maybe I am naive about that though. I only know some basic things about fin placement, but I have moved the leading edge down a bit, to help keep my tip down, and I moved the fin back a bit to make the ski feel a bit larger. I am 6.3, & 198. How bout you? Also, is the main horizontal line exactly 2.5 inches? Can some experts please chine in? Thank you.
  5. Spring of 1966, burien, wash. Dad & mom took us kids into the crestliner dealer showroom. Selected a 15 foot Fiberglas crestliner tri hull open bow with the new Johnson loop changed 55hp 3 cyl. We wanted a boat light enough to be towed with my older brothers 66 mustang, which he still owns. What a thrill, as a 10 year old kid to experience that and watch my dad negotiate a cash deal, along with double skis and other options. I learned to ski behind that boat, and us kids had a lot of fun boating and skiing together.
  6. I have been skiing all winter in a Oneill 3/4 "heat" wet suit I purchased from Willeys.it keeps me warm and also fairly dry. I prefer it to a dry suit. I bought a eagle 1m heater tank from h2o that really helps under the Oneill. I am having good luck with my blue "Accurate" inexpensive gloves.
  7. It's Mrs. Bogboy's birthday today. Does that mean there should be, or should not be any chasing? I am so confused.
  8. Plus, when you chase your wife around the house, you will catch her more often.
  9. I guess it depends on how much excess you have now. It seems to me that if you are around your optimum weight, you can practice technique better.
  10. I agree. I recently went from around 225 to about 198. This has really helped my skiing and confidence.
  11. I love to read great descriptions like this. This is what my friends have been telling me in several ways for a couple years now. I am slowly getting it. I'm trying. Thank you.
  12. Yes. I ran into the same thing when I purchased a 2011 senate last september. I had the Wiley HO double boot plate pattern. The front boot fit perfectly. The rear boot front holes fit, but the rear holes did not. I put a thin foam type tape under the rear part of the rear binding. I then screwed the front holes of the rear binding in, making sure the rear part of the binding was centered on the ski. I then put a small piece of 2x4 on the rear part of the plate, and stepped on it. This left dimples in the tape from the rear hole pattern from the ski. I then drilled holes (starting with a small bit) into the rear part of the rear plate, following up with the proper diameter holes. Perfect fix. I hope this helps.
  13. We have been skiing all through the winter on our public lake in the pacific northwest.
  14. Mark, hope you have a great time in Florida. We are going to winterhavan in may to stay with friends on lake bess. Sometimes we say, "it's too nice to ski". "the water's too warm & flat".
  15. I say buy a 2012 strada or s2. I am a novice skier, & went from a triumph, to a senate non c, to a d3 fusion, and I am having a blast! You only live once. Get the best. Then you won't have to worry about moving up for a long time. Until you start wondering about that intriguing Reflex. "what's that honey, what I'm I looking at? Oh, nothing".
  16. Hello, my name is Ted Boysen. My wife & I are retired, in our mid 50's, and we live on a public lake in western Washington state. We each water skied a bit when we were younger, but just goofing around, and never learned to ski correctly. A few years ago we decided to start skiing more often, and we went to wonderful ski paradise in Acapulco. We have been having a blast with our ski buddy,s and have joined the local waterski club. We sold the old Glastron, and purchased a used, low hour 2002 SN, which we love. I was still on my old O'Brien BFS, and Linda on a Connelly Pilot. We then each got HO Triumphs. I then went to a Radar Senate, and I just recently bought a d3 Fusion. The ski club has a Wally course which we practice on. We get coaching from our ski friends, and sometimes professional coaching.(Thanks Eddie, Mark, and Anna)! We are very close to making a full pass at 15 off. I know, I moved up in skis before I had any right to, but I,m having so much fun! We are skiing as often as we can, and the people in the skiing community are so nice and fun. Oh, my wife suggested that my pen name should be bog boy, because I grew up on a peat bog that my dad owned and harvested, to process into top soil. I have enjoyed being a "lurker" on the BOS forum for a few months now, and just decided to participate a little. I think BOS is very informative, and fun. Thanks Horton. Sorry about the long winded introduction.
  17. I had wileys add a dense foam heel lift to my rear wileys boot. It seems to help my form, as I am trying to break my old habit of tail skiing. Maybe a front heel lift would also be helpful.
