  1. Than: absolutely. I free skied for many years, & only occasionally tried the course, and made only small progress. I decided to pay for lots of coaching & course time, and that is what works. I wish I did that years ago, but better late than never.
  2. I am on the ski now that is giving me the best course success. A 69" 2012 triumph with double wilys .6'3", 195 lbs. I have tried lots of skis, including some high end ones. I figure that there is value in knowledge though, and I have no regrets. I finally went with what works for me. Having a blast.
  3. When I was trying a lot of skis a few months ago, I demoed a carbon v. It seemed a little grabby to me & wanted to throw me over ocasionally. I'm sure it was more the skier than the ski though.
  4. Sdna: the first, in my opinion. I tried the latter option, & went back to the first option.
  5. Sedna: understood. I am just saying that the triumph easily skied me down to that speed for course instruction progress. It is my understanding that the triumph performs well in the course up to about 32mph.
  6. Sedna: get yourself the new syndicate s2 & coex inspired 69" triumph, slow the boat speed to 25, get course time lessons every day, & you will be skiing all 6 big balls in about 4 or 5 days.
  7. Along with front foot pressure.
  8. I am participating as a beginning course skier here, but one of my instructors (with many years of skiing and coaching experience) told me that your right arm to 1,3,5, and left arm to 2,4,6 is an accelerator. I do seem to notice that this is so.
  9. I like to swim laps most mornings up at the high school, and stretch in the pool after my work out. That usually gets me warmed up for the day.
  10. And hopefully a ski afterwards.
  11. Renting a suite for 25 family members and friends for a once a year traditional party at safeco field to see the mariners beat the giants.
  12. I feel like a young 55. I just did a pb at bow lake last Monday. 6 full passes at 15 off, 26mph. Up from 25mph before. I need to be realistic in my goals, but I would like to do consistent passes of 30 or 32 mph at 15 off. I just don't know if I am setting my goals too low, or not. Hard work, time, fun, and who knows.
  13. Horton: thank you for your time and hard work. We enjoy reading about different skis, and ski information in general. In the end we are responsible to do our own do diligence, and make our own decisions about our passion.
  14. To Horton, or anybody: Is there any chance that you, or anyone, or a group could do a slalom course "shoot out" between the triumph, theory, v, & synchro. That would probably be really interesting for beginning course skiers who also are working to progress. Is it even practical? Maybe that is more of a question for waterski mag. Thanks.
  15. I really love my new triumph! It's better in every way than my older triumph, which I used to get back into skiing again about 5 years ago. I wasn't making a lot of progress in the course, but mainly still doing mostly free skiing. I tried a high end ski, thinking it would be the magic bullet, but it was too advanced, as I had to slow way down in the course. I decided to get serious and get lots of coaching on ski lakes, get the 2012 triumph per a coaches suggestion, and I am now skiing the course. Give the new triumph a try.
  16. I don't mean to sound highjacky, but since a 66 fusion sale was mentioned, I have a like new 68" with d3 case & sock that I would like to sell. Too advanced for me in the course. My new triumph is working really well for me at 25-26 mph in the course. I think I will be on my triumph until I can make 30 mph, which might be a while. I would prefer to free ski & course ski on the same ski. I have not yet posted it on ski it again. Lboysen@comcast.net. Thank you.
  17. You might give the new redesigned triumph a look.
  18. My instructor told us "leaning/cutting right, load right arm. Leaning/cutting left, load left arm." this seems to give me stronger, faster leverage.
  19. E mail is Lboysen@comcast.net.
  20. Ef23, I will sell you my like new 68". It' too advanced for me on the course, & probably will be for sometime. Comes with case & sock too.
  21. I ran my first full pass, plus about 7 more last week at friends near winterhavan, fl. I am so happy! Thank you Greg & Clarice! The ski I used was not my new fusion, but a new 2012 triumph that my instructor here at home suggested, to replace my old triumph. I now know the importance of matching your abilities with your ski. The gang told me that now that I can run the course, I need to learn to run it better. Agreed. It's been a lot more work than I thought it would be, since getting back into skiing about 4 years ago. It's worth it.
  22. Horton, just curious, did you request a 67.5, or do you wish you had a 66.5 instead?
  23. mat's ski seems to be riding nice and level. Does anyone know what his approx. weight is and if he is on a 66.5, or 67.5?
