  1. @Cooper_Trelawney the kid that won tricks and overall at Moomba is Martin Kolman. Great skier and a really nice guy!
  2. @Goldcup101 we have had exactly the same problem. We were told the same thing, replace the whole system. Otherwise you will have to find an older multi line display.
  3. @BrennanKMN I don’t think George has the boat out there yet, and the forecast high is 57* Most people are not skiing here at that temperature. The site is a great place to catch a set, convenient to inside the perimeter and areas south.
  4. I think @twhisper makes a great point, you can’t be in an athletic stance without ankle flexion. Watch any major league homerun slugger, they cannot hit from their heels, you can’t slalom on your heels either. But your knees can’t be locked out either...
  5. I think the appropriate term may be “athletic stance”, knees are always bent to some degree, but you are definitely resisting. I used to be able to do it correctly, though somewhat old school...
  6. I distributed Brendella Boats in the Southeast for several years, they are great little ski boats! I would get that one from Horton if it were not so far away.
  7. @adamhcaldwell interesting stuff, as you and I have discussed before, back in the day, I had Connelly build my skis with a softer than normal tail flex. I liked the way it allowed the ski to finish the rotation back across the wake. It worked for me, set the Alabama M3 record that has lasted 25 years on one of those skis. Seems to me I remember Pat Connelly playing with the direction of laying the carbon also. But I don’t remember on which skis... And the amount of carbon was much less than new skis.
  8. Ski practice like tournaments, ski tournaments like practice, my best scores are in tournaments! But so are my worst...
  9. @blagrata I have an HRT, really like it, but I had a hard time kicking into it. Since you already have the xmax boot, you might try it in back with the upper laces removed completely and put the bungy lace in the lower. I put bungy laces in my HRT.
  10. @Roger I wish I was there now, but trying to get there in a couple of weeks, probably on the 5th & 6th.
  11. @Roger hopefully my next set will be at Okeeheelee!
  12. @bracemaker is correct in that hardshell boots transmit movement into the ski much different than rubber boots. If your body position is a bit eradic, you could trigger a release unexpectedly with the stiffer boots. If you are transitioning from a rubber boot, Radar, Connelly, and O'Brien all make great soft fit boots that work well with the MOB release system. Better performance is not always achieved with a stiffer hardshell boot. Particular attention needs to be given to the cuff area in hardshell boots, too much lateral input can be detrimental. That is the reasoning behind cuff modifications.
  13. Late Fall set in Alabama this weekend with my daughter, air mid sixties, water about the same...
  14. My grandson sitting in a ski chair at The Boathouse at Disney Springs, they have several...
  15. @ScottScott great to meet you at the KoD event Saturday, I'm guessing you skied Sunday, the weather turned out great. Glad you now know how it will release!
  16. We stopped by and skied with Lucky Lowe on Sunday after KoD event. Weather turned out great, no wetsuit. Enjoyed skiing the eight buoy course, next time I'll try to get all ten!
  17. @Orlando76 I have used both an r style and the HRT. I used double hardshell boots for over twenty years and changed 2 years ago. I like both, but I have cut the r style down around the ankle so it ended up being close to the same height as the HRT. I agree with @Pat M, it allows you to get up over your front foot easier once you get use to it.
  18. Yep, I'll be there again. Fun time last year.
  19. Good luck with recovery! Work hard on the PT and let me know if I can help you get back on the water.
  20. @lpskier I don't know if that constitutes a boob job, maybe just a face lift!
  21. @skispray your choice of trick binding can depend a lot on your level of tricking. The MOB system releases easily from the toe in an edge catch, others do not. I am not as good of a tricker as @eleeski so as I have gotten older and more fragile, I want my ski to release in an edge catch! If you are a 1000-4000 point tricker, the MOB system can make tricks much more enjoyable while you are improving your skills! If you are like me and just trying to keep up what you used to be able to do, those sudden stops from an edge catch hurt! If you are still working your way up in points, the MOB release is a less painful path! I do agree that as you approach 10K+ points you probably want to be more locked into your ski, but obviously your skill level will allow that. Oh, and the MOB is easy to reset also.
  22. Toes touching the front boot used to be the accepted norm, but not so much any more. You have to measure ankle to ankle and may have to adjust the plate or cut the toe of hardshell boots to achieve your best position. Set your front boot position first, keeping the spacing constant while testing, then adjust the rear position. Once you know your best spacing, use that first when testing a new ski.
  23. @jaypro @sivota when using the vector boot in the rear with MOB front release I recommend removing the upper bungee laces. You don't really need the cuff tight around your rear ankle. You will not only be safer in a release, you should find it easier get your COM forward and lose some of the unwanted influence from your rear leg in the offside pre-turn.
  24. @Fraser good plan, except I don't understand waiting. The surgeons I used work with many pro athletes and they want to do ACL repair asap after injury, usually within two weeks!
  25. I actually skied a practice set behind one today, maybe my fourth slalom set behind one including one tournament set. The tournament set I skied my season average. I have tricked behind it maybe three times. Overall the boat is a little different than the 200 and would take time to get comfortable skiing behind. But the same for the other boats also. The boat has a lot of really neat features and a lot of room.
