  1. Thank you for the detailed response @GregHind. I will be doing this when I get back out to my boat in the next day or two and posting an update.
  2. Thanks for the comments, @Ilivetoski I'm thinking about it, anyone else think zbox would be a good addition? @TallSkinnyGuy I've done this and it does hold pretty consistently. @GregHind I'd have to check, should be most recent, I bought it from s2s this spring @Mark_Matis It's a 2004, I'll have to check this resistance @Mike Gile Hadn't heard of this one but I'll give it a go as well.
  3. Struggling with the stargazer upgrade I installed this year, especially since my drivers are generally not course skiers and I can't tweak it between passes from the water... They've graciously been taking pictures of the full course buoy times calculated after a lot of passes and I generally get one of three types of pulls at 32mph: 1. full course time .5-1.0s slow, no rodeo ride (driver error on throttle position?) 2. accurate full course time, rodeo ride midway through course, either speeding up or down 3. accurate full course time, consistent pull. I'm lucky to get #3 once per set, a little more frequently if the wind is calm I have plenty of setup space and my drivers knows to get the rpms 3400 once I'm out of the water but still doesn't seem to be consistent. I've tweaked the baseline to get consistent full course times, and those are usually pretty good. I've been reading the other stargazer help threads, especially this one: http://ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/4590/stargazer-help Seems like @Ed_Obermeier is suggesting to lower the baseline rpm to get the system to lock in sooner and bulk up the crew weight to compensate, is that correct? Is it worth screwing with the rpm inversion, and 'background settings,' or adding springs if I know the system can occasionally give me a good pull? I hate spending my whole set trying to get my opening pass, I'm tempted to just switch back to RPM mode so I can work on improving and not fighting the boat. Boat is 04 PS197 with 1:1 MCX, mechanical linkage.
  4. glad to hear it. I also have one for 7+ years and I'll chime in that in the manual you can adjust the motor frequency for lifting vs lowering (lower Hz = more torque). Might play with those settings to address the 3 hesitations.
  5. @LLUSA you have a source on those numbers? Never heard any numbers on the prostar production numbers before.
  6. The big thing to keep in mind is that with a wetsuit and life jacket, you're going to pop back above the water even if you did take a mouthful of water. For me the main concern with the 'gasp reflex' is if you had no floatatation aids and couldn't get above the water to cough up the water.
  7. What part of the country do you live in? if you're in the north, you'll want an aluminum lift for pulling it out each year. Do you have power at the dock? powered lifts are the way to go, whether it's battery+solar or shore power. You'll have to decide between vertical and cantilever lift style. In my limited it experience, the verticals are heavier than cantilever so take more people to put in and out. Vertical lift has more vertical travel, I can get my boat on a vertical lift tucked nicely up under the canopy, not sure that'd be possible with cantilever.

    Bimini top

Looking at the tower bimini site, I didn't see anything that is windshield frame mounted like the @Glock 's pictures. Also curious if there's a place to source this type of Bimini...
  9. Just installed stargazer and a new display myself.... I'd try unplugging the display and plugging it in again and try pressing the up arrow again. If it still continues to scroll up sounds like you have a faulty button/display. Did you replace the display at the same time as the new master module?
  10. I'm buying a new prop for my 2004 prostar 197 (yes yes, let the PS197 hate flow...) And I've decided on an OJ prop since I can get my old one rebuilt for free. I contacted OJ and told them it is used primarily in the course they suggested one of these three: 12.5 x 12, 4-blade 12.5 x 13 4-blade 13 x 11.5 3-blade I know I can try out the props, but looking for anyone with direct experience with any of these props. Was leaning towards the 3 blade. Engine is MCX and it has the 1:1 transmission.
  11. @jhughes did they let your wife ride along while you skied? I ask because I'm going down there in a few weeks with the family and would love for my wife to do that.
  12. Getting rid of PP digital pro with the iffy display and finally getting stargazer. My drivers will be so happy to have a working display!
  13. I don't know what hardware they use, but the warman lake ski club has a cool webcam and weather info on their site: http://www.warmanlake.com/webcams.php Was always curious what hardware they used, maybe someone will chime in.
  14. Had this happen as well, I'm most likely to not get up with a shorty. I find if I kind of squeeze my knees together as I get up it helps avoid the issue.
  15. An interesting read, I didn't realize how lucky we are in MN, I thought our laws were the norm. I sent an email as suggested in the team talk post. As far as getting similar changes elsewhere, If this law passes, someone could cite the recent changes in WI, VT, and UT as precedent for changes in other states.
  16. @skibrain December 1st is impressive! Had my last ski on Sunday. Would have perhaps kept the boat in another week but it gets dark so early I'd be hard pressed to get out during the week.
  17. I copied the width of the rear trailer bunks and just tried to have the front a few inches narrower. picture below was my first shot, I still had to adjust the bunks a bit to get the strakes to line up correctly.
  18. @Razorskier1 Jim, How much do you want for your inversion table?
  19. I'll chime in, this past spring we rented a large vacation house right on the lake at swiss waterski resort. Being able to sit in our hot tub to and see people skiing all day was really cool to that site. Coaching was great and I think it's one of the more reasonably priced schools per set. Kind of in the middle of nowhere, but a 45 minute jaunt down to downtown disney kept the wives happy :) .
  20. @Andre I took the vid, It was a windy day, but on takeoff you'd almost hear the spray/water noise more than the exhaust note.
  21. @Razorskier1 this is joe. Hoping to get dave in the course at some point!
  22. @Razorskier1 Well great, now how am I supposed to hear when you guys are done at the course?? ;) Seriously though, Monday morning we were waiting to go until we finally just went down to the dock and saw you had quietly come back already.
