  1. Over the last 2 weeks I have put the CG fin in 2 different skis and been from one end of the tuning spectrum to the other. At one point I was a little lost and went back to my old fin and block for a reset, I honestly hated the feel of the stock KD fin after using the CG fin. I put the CG into the Nano for a few passes which helped me work out some things. Went back to the KD with a new set of numbers and hit a sweet spot - I feel the CG fin has improved the KD significantly in every aspect, its faster and easier on the body side to side, the offside is like something I have never felt before on a ski - it seems to create space so easily. For $150 its a no brainer, watch the video and yeah it does everything that it says on the packet and then some... Nice work Adam and Adam - thank you. My KD 67 settings 6.830 2.500 .780 7 For those that are wondering most of the tuning time was spent finding a balance between onside / offside performance and a balance between feeling good at -32 and performing at -38 On the KD fin length seems to be the critical number, too long with the CG fin and your going over the front first time offside, I found out the most spectacular hard way. Even at 6.830 there is a decent amount of tip pressure to be aware of. I went to the Nano to see if it had the same feel and it was different. I will conclude by saying this "Cold dead hands"
  2. Making the course a little wider is going to help you build a habit that almost certainly more beneficial than going the other way.
  3. What about the effect of making the course a little wider at -32 / -35 then back to normal for -38 and shorter?
  4. It was meant to be funny and for the record I've had plenty of practice sets where I feel just like that goat. I do wonder if my driver suffers from this at times... :)
  5. I'm looking forward to the aftermarket fin comparisons that are sure to come as the Whisper is way different to the CG fin which by all accounts is a game changer at about half the price. Game on.
  6. Yeah the coil sprung Ranger Raptors out here in AU have lower tow ratings for that very reason. And it has a 2.0l engine but don't get me started on that...
  7. That fin must be $400 Aussie dollars - ouch!
  8. Yep Aussie ranger. Great tow rig.
  9. I'm coming up on a year on the KD since my last fin move. I pulled out my calipers the other day to measure something and they were flat. Probably need to check my fin at some stage but no real need for change, I guess thats a good thing.
  10. There are already noises in Australia about taxing electric car owners for road use, they will be cheaper for a while but that won't last as governments find new and creative ways to tax the sh1t out of them. I drove a Tesla this year and ran some numbers on a purchasing one and the servicing costs were a bit of a surprise, they don't come close to stacking up just yet. (in Australia) The prospect of an electric ski boat is really exciting, imagine how easy it will be to fine tune the pull with instant torque... Which ZO setting would you like? I'l take j32 thanks...
  11. Yeah I'm a bit the same no comments? Boy he has some interesting elements to his technique thats for sure.

  13. Everyone who gets on one of these loves it!
  14. So we have the technology and HP to deliver a pretty flat pull without the speed control gassing and letting off the way it does, scores would go down and some if not all skiers would be disadvantaged almost certainly. 1 type of pull and 1 setting removes the arguments and to some extent the differences between boats, the current slalom and jump world records would probably stand for a long time to come Is there any real upside to a more linear pull? Is ZO gassing cheating? think about how much a jump boat hammers when it goes on the switch. How much HP do we actually need with a slalom boat anyway? Should they cap HP and boat size at some point? Are we seeing more injuries with the bigger more powerful boats?
  15. Switched my 8YO son from a soft boot lace up (which I never let him tighten) to a higher wrap stiffer Wiley and his skiing instantly went down hill to the point where he could not turn the ski or even run the mini course. To be fair we tried two Wiley boots, one cut much lower but it was too small but he could ski on it pretty well until the cramps set in. He pretty much gave up coming to the lake so I put the old soft boot back on and convinced him to try it again, now he's back ripping up and down the full slalom course and making it look way too easy. Just to back up what @adamhcaldwell said at the start of the thread I saw my son go from confident to complete beginner just by changing the boots, his balance went away followed by his motivation to ski. Lesson learned.
  16. Market position and perception is almost certainly the reason. Probably won't tow any serious events??? So a lot of upper level skiers will probably look to the flagship model anyway, can't wait to see how it skis and here's a question - Would Nate be allowed to break the WR behind it? :) (if it did pull a RC event?)

    New fin?

Cool this is really good to see.
  18. That much extra weight is not trivial so it will be interesting to see where the porkiness is coming from and how the boat performs with the additional weight.
  19. The kid is awesome and has a 41 in the books regardless of what people might have to say about that particular score. The great thing about this sport is there is no absolute right or wrong way to go out the gates. RP goes on the list of one of my favorite skiers to watch, I really like the way he uses the ski and he leaves it all out there. He's no pussy, more power to him I hope he runs a shet load more 41's. With regards to the handle its an exaggerated move that maybe helps him grab some extra width / space as he moves over the ski into the ball.
  20. Squash, cycling, surfing. Also have a SUP which is good for relaxing when conditions are right. Plan to do a bit of 4WD exploring this year as well.
  21. I have a ton of respect for jumpers but the mixing of solid stationary objects and water stopped making any sense at about age 30 for me.
  22. @Horton if their is data that supports your assumption I wonder how/if modern ski design contributes. Also the fact that an offside turn often has the benefit of coming off an onside turn which can often mean more time and space.
