Baller skigirl Posted September 7, 2012 Baller Posted September 7, 2012 Finally getting a new shorty wetsuit. Need it for slalom skiing in WI lakes; sometimes even for cool days during the summer. Note, I am a somewhat tall (5'11'') female, so suggestions from anyone similar would be great! I have some ideas, but thought I would see if anyone has any favorites they would recommend. Thanks!
Baller itch2ski Posted September 7, 2012 Baller Posted September 7, 2012 I've had both Quiksilver and O'Neal 2mm longsleeve shorty and they are awesome. I always get the nicest one they offer. Better seams and more flexible materials. Not sure which would work better for you as far fitment.
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted September 7, 2012 Baller_ Posted September 7, 2012 ditto on the O'Neill long sleeve shorty
Baller_ The_MS Posted September 7, 2012 Baller_ Posted September 7, 2012 Just get a hot top or buy a cold water swimming suit from aqua sphere. Hot top and neo shorts are comfortable and will fit better.
Baller jayski Posted September 7, 2012 Baller Posted September 7, 2012 Billabong Solution SGX202, got it @ Perf, long sleeve shorty, top (neck area) entry w/horizontal front zip, without a doubt the best shorty I have ever owned, next to no water gets in and is super warm! All seams are welded and sealed, zipper lets negligable water in as it is actually mid chest so there is neoprene behind it up to collarbone area...
Baller PBD Posted September 7, 2012 Baller Posted September 7, 2012 @ms what is a cold weather swim suit. I couldn't find one on the Aqua Sphere website.
Baller lcarnes Posted September 7, 2012 Baller Posted September 7, 2012 Camaro 1mm open cell. By far the best wetsuit I've ever had. You can move completely and it's very warm. Hard to find though.
Baller gregy Posted September 7, 2012 Baller Posted September 7, 2012 I bought an eagle short with long sleeves last year. It's light weight and comfortable.
Baller Chuck_Dickey Posted September 7, 2012 Baller Posted September 7, 2012 I think I'm the poster boy for Camaro. I bought my first suit a couple years ago and love it, since then I have purchased several for all conditions. I have the LS shorty in the .5mm Titainium, the full suit .5mm Titainium, the full 1mm Open Cell and the full 2mm Titainium. All of them are great and you can't tell you're wearing them while skiing they are sooooo comfortable! See them at http://www.camaro.at/en/wasserski/index.php Buy them at www.hotwater.cc owned by Volker Engelhardt. If you are in the USA we do not have to pay the VAT, so at check you, put in your address and the VAT tax is removed. VAT is about 10-15% if I recall.
Baller thager Posted September 7, 2012 Baller Posted September 7, 2012 Wetsuit is wet. Drysuit is sweat. Pick your poison. I like my O'neil Psycho II way more than my drysuits!
Baller Deke Posted September 8, 2012 Baller Posted September 8, 2012 @scotchipman that is an awesome setup. After trying dry tops with neo shorts I have often thought a shortie hybrid would be great for our climate. Neoprene is fine but after the first setup it is too cold for me.
Baller Chef23 Posted September 8, 2012 Baller Posted September 8, 2012 I am with @MS on this I don't use a shorty anymore I wear a heater top then go to a full suit or dry suit. I find the heater top much more comfortable than a shorty and just as warm.
Baller_ The_MS Posted September 8, 2012 Baller_ Posted September 8, 2012 In the spring I go from a dry suit to this. http://www.swim2000.com/product.php?pd_id=231020&utm_source=Froogle&utm_medium=COM_REFERRAL&CAWELAID=894080964 and when it warms up a bit more I move into the hot top. The cold water swim suits are awesome and have no restriction of body movement. They are almost like a dry suit.
buski Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 @thager - how is the psycho 2 when you're in the boat between sets on a chilly air day?
Baller mr_pretzel Posted September 8, 2012 Baller Posted September 8, 2012 For a thicker wetsuit, mystic is awesome.
Baller thager Posted September 8, 2012 Baller Posted September 8, 2012 Fine. Even with the dry suits, on chilly days I always wear an old coat and hat to cut heat loss.
Baller waterskigirl Posted September 8, 2012 Baller Posted September 8, 2012 We sell both the Eagle and Camaro here @ www.skisunsetranch.com/gear Eagle is less $$$$ Camaro high tech with more thickness choices and long and short 0.3-2mm depending on your needs for weather conditions. People who have tried Camaro love them 3 year mfg warrantee too, here is a of one of our guests wearing the 0.3 Camaro she loves it! Looks cool too:)
mopowpow Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Any one try a Camaro Speedskin for skiing? http://www.sierratradingpost.com/camaro-overall-speedskin-3and2mm-for-women~p~86209/ Found this on STP, is made for tri atheletes like the one MS uses. My O'Neill full suit that just doesn't fit very well.
countymountie Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I had an Aqua Sphere 50 that looked very similar to the Camaro. I only got two seasons out of the thin POS.
Baller thager Posted September 23, 2012 Baller Posted September 23, 2012 @Buski I have a 3/2. Sorry for the delay responding.
