  1. Just make sure the oil used has the SM/SN designation. This ensures the zinc additive. Last I looked the newest version of Rotella dropped the SM/SN, Make sure to check your Rotella being used. We cannot afford to loose these engines.
  2. The post from @chaloux is a Canadian boat and ad making the price roughly 11K in USD. I have no idea what duties might be to bring it into the US for someone wanting to repower, The orlando boat would cost 22K Cnd dollars just in exchange alone plus duties and taxes at the border. That's probably close to 10K diffenence on the KIJIJI ad boat
  3. I banged up some ribs a few weeks ago and judging how slow they are healing I called it a season and winterized today. Somehow easier to make the call when you are in physical pain.
  4. I had the pleasure of meeting and skiing with the wednesday night crew this summer out at Curlew Lake when @Rednucleus graciously invited me to join them for a day on the water. Honestly one of the best days I have had in a very long time. Great guys, great skiing and good times. Thanks again all. KR
  5. I had a simular issue in an old 77 SN that had a BorgWarner Velvet Drive tranny. Turned out when they rebuilt it the kit had an updated valve that did not match the housing correctly. I do not know much abou the guts of the tranny but the mechanic modded the housing to match some kinda port better and the whine went away.
  6. It was fun to have a wide variety of announsers and their points of view during the broadcasts. Maybe we need a vote for the announcer of the day!
  7. You are getting backfiring while it is running at speed? If that is the case I would not be skiing on this boat till it was resolved in the shop. Engines do not like to back fire for long before damaging something.
  8. I have used AquaSeal wetsuit repair smoothed into the wear area with some success. It holds for almost a season.
  9. The post title does not match the actual episode. This is a great listen, a lot to think about and everyone should benifit from it.
  10. Yes a boat slammed into reverse and turning at the same time will dive like that as I know from experience. Had to do this to avoid an open water swimmer with no safety boat, swimmers bouy or bright colored skull cap out swimming in heavy wind chop in the middle of the lake. Boat took on a LOT of water.
  11. @teammalibu That picture is amazing. Was it a 3 or 4 blade prop? Almost art.
  12. It could be that there was some residual dye in the fuel from marked gas having been used? I have noticed that some of the premium grade fuels are dyed red so hopefully it is just a stain and nothing more.
  13. I have been playing around with rotating front/rear bindings for probably close to 15 yrs. I found that some skis needed the rotation and some did not. Just another variable when setting up a ski.
  14. The filter in the fuel cell (I am assuming PCM still has one in a 2005) caused me the same issue until I changed it.
  15. @Roger @ALPJr I tried the new Outlaw. It is cut differently than the old 2 strap one that I was retiring. I found it did not fit me well and the smaller arm holes were a bother when reaching. It looked well made but the buckle strap does not go all the way around the vest and is sewn in which could be a problem in time. As with most brands make sure to try it on wet. They change shape when wet. I ended up with the Radar Drifter and was a bit sceptical not having at least one buckle. After skiing 1/2 a season I am happy with it's overall performance , fit, comfort and floatation. Zipper has never opened up while skiing but neither have I had any bad tumbles wearing it.
  16. Start with the basics. Have the fuel filter(s) been serviced in the last few seasons?
  17. I must admit that @tjs1295 last comment is quite true around here as well. At least 50% of them are plowing water with nobody behind the boat. The ONLY good that has come from them is the many hrs of entertainment these new barge owners have provided us at the boat launch. Wished I had a phone to record the last witnessed event. They put the trailer in so deep water was running into the truck when the driver opened the door. The trailer was so deep the pads on the trailer guides floated off the pipes! Boat turned sideways in the wind after they connected and tightened the winch line so driver thought "Hey I will just pull ahead to straighten it out" Running gear got caught on the trailer guide pipe and the driver paniced by gunning the truck pulling boat /trailer up the ramp. Boat ended up rolled over 90 deg on the trailer with the guide pipe between the hull and drive shaft. I never would have believed it had I not seen it myself. Priceless
  18. I took a part time seasonal position with a dock company building docks. Going forward we are using floats that are 24 inches tall as standard as opposed to 12 inches. We also have a growing number of requests to refit docks with these taller floats. Reason being is the surf wakes are rolling over the tops of the decks and everyone on the lake is getting sick of it. Average cost to refit an average sized dock is $4500. That's 2 new skis up here in Canada!
  19. @bananaron This is no different than any lake in our area. This year we have seen a new beast on the water (many of them) that throws a wake so large it swamps your regular ski type boat if it is just sitting floating enjoying the sunshine. (NOT KIDDING) What happened to boaters being responsable for their wakes produced by their boat? I am off the water by 9am to avoid these A** H**** who think they can surf any direction at any distance from the shore at any time of the day. It especially ticks me off when they surf 100ft out from a boat launch to watch and laugh at the mayhiem they created with their waves. Time to pull out the SCUBA gear and do a little night diving with a hole saw.
  20. Video they had on the Denali website explains it so give it a watch. But in a nutshell it allows you to stay in the same body position for both turns and makes the turns even. I find there is little difference between my on/off side turns using the CG fin. I use it on my D3R2 and HO Omega.
  21. Put the @ symbol in front of their handle. @boscoman
  22. If you have the older air pressure AirGuide type speedos check for rotten rubber lines.
  23. I was out the other day skiing on 38off and was having a blast until I ran into rollers. True I would never run this on a course, (at least not yet), but it is still fun to experience it without the preassure of the balls. The way I see it runing 20 -30 turns building a good rythmn with the boat in open water can't hurt anyone.
  24. There was a thread here from a while back that had a tutorial on how to repair the Malibu guages of that era. I myself have been looking for it as I have a friend who's speedo quit as well. They use an electronic clockwork the same as GM cars/trucks. They just suddenly quit working. The tutorial explained how to open up the guage and replace it. I just replaced 4 of them on my wifes 2007 car at a cost of $12/clockwork as opposed to over $1K for a new speedo cluster which is now special order and a 6+month wait. I found the clockworks at WalMart of all places.
