  1. Looking forward to Part 2. Skiing at HT I have the good fortune to sometimes ski when Dave is there. As a "15 off hack", I am alway intrigued watching him work on his new skis. I wish I understood 10% of what he and Adam Cord talk about on the dock!
  2. @Kwoody51 Just to be clear, that's Douger of the famous Wendesday Night Men's Club - I don't have the stones to try that stuff - and btw that's after his hip replacement!
  3. At Hilltop we pay a yearly membership (full time or part time option) and purchase gas stickers to use per set. For this I have the privelage of skiing at one of the nicest lakes in the country, and have made many new ski friends. Like it's said in the TV commercial - "PRICELESS"
  4. I keep 5-10 gallon of unleaded in 5 gal tanks for general small motor use - mower, rototill, chain saw, string weeder. At best I refill 1-2 times a year. My old Echo saw starts once a year on whatever gas has been sitting in it for the past year by the 3rd pull. Same for all my other toys, despite all the warnings on needing "fresh gas".
  5. @Kwoody51 My buddy has a BI suit. Several shops refused to work on that brand for him. I have changed wrist & ankle seals for him and the originals were a huge PIA to get off vs other suits I have changed. Actually resorted to a straight edge razor blade to get all the residual glue & seals off. Usually a 30 minute job per seal for me, 2-3 hrs for the BI suit :( Here's a pic of his suit
  6. @Kwoody51 is it a baggy nylon suit - if so, easy to change wrist & leg seals. Wiley's in Seattle has them for you. I buy a big tube of Gear Aid Seam Grip - similar to Aqua seal- store in the freezer it lasts over a year. I use an inflatable anesthesia bag in the arm/leg to get the perfect shape and put equal pressure on the seam (your local veterinarian may sell you one; I put a valve in the end to hold the pressure). Electrical tape around the seam lip overnite while it sets. i use a hairdryer to soften the old glue when removing the old seal, then alcohol rub and some sandpaper before putting on new one. I got my current baggy in 1994 and have changed alot of seals over the years.
  7. What a difference a week makes. 90 degrees here last weekend, 48 today and HT water down to 58. Hooray for my faithful dry suit! Back at it tomorrow!
  8. @Jody_Seal How many weeks post op have you been told you can ski again? I have been told 6 months but wait till doc sees my PT progress!! (sorry folks getting kind of off topic)
  9. Rains are FINALLY coming to the PNW this weekend. May be close to dry suit time. This will be the latest I have stayed in a wetsuit. Skiing Full Blast, weekends only for me, but will be done for the year soon with THR scheduled Nov 15th
  10. @Buxrus - great question. My doc told me three years ago to come see him again when I no longer enjoyed my every day activities. I can ski with little discomfort, but am miserable for 2 days after. I hurt all day long and wake up several times a night. My bride will tell you I am much crankier than usual, as will my staff at work. I am scheduled for THR (rear leg) Nov 15th and can hardly wait. Everyone that gets THR will tell you they should have done it sooner. If I could get my flux capacitor working I would go back one year in a heart beat and get it done. For me, the last 4-6 months have sucked in terms of quality of life. Your description is where I was a year ago. Two years ago it was just an annoyance. Three years ago I saw the doc to get educated and start thinking about THR.

  12. @pc how many weeks out did your surgeon say you could snow ski? I have a nov 15th appt and my doc says he doesn't want any skiing x 6 months (water or snow). Interesting to hear what other THR folks have been told.

  19. @BugHunter more info please on that product, thanks!
  20. He would fit in well at the Wed Night Men's Dinner Club!!
  21. I especially liked the safety references as the three kids ski off the dock w/o life vests - but two people in the boat is a must!
  22. My buddy called his Phantom "The Danger Ski" due to unpredictable OTF's - fun to watch him ski on that one!
