  1. @ctsmith That's what one guy I know did in 25' deep water with no divers. Your question just reminded me of that.
  2. Cross-line course is also an option, especially if the width is 200' to 250'. I've also been involved with one on a lake 400'ish wide. Cross-line is extremely accurate if done properly and width isn't an issue. The issue is width and shorelines. If I were to do individual anchors, I would prefer to do it in shallow water before the lake fills up if possible. Another option is to layout boat guides and turns on a 2" schedule 40 pvc, then you only need 2 anchors per set instead of 3. (this way would also be easier if you could install before the lake fills up). I have not installed one that needed to be sunk, so I've got nothing for you there. But Dr Jim Michaels can help you if you need one that needs to be narrowed for setting records and grabbing glory.
  3. There's at least 8 in South Carolina (depending on how you want to count "man made ski lakes") I know at least 3 of them have the ability to pump from somewhere. I'm pretty sure Georgia and North Carolina would have at least twice that many each.
  4. My problem is usually turning too much and either overloading too early or getting my width too soon and running out of speed. Thinking about it not just at the gate but also off every turn put me in a much calmer course rhythm.
  5. It will slow down considerably in another month though. Fortunately I ski with a couple of guys that don't mind pushing the 100 degree rule on decent weekends.
  6. @2tracmind, @Wish - when I read about the 11 - 1 description, I thought that sounded pretty good and I couldn't wait to try it (or see if I could remember it with the other 6 things I'm trying to change). Very simple and very effective even with the windy day we had yesterday. Thanks guys.
  7. Early 80s putting a course in public water. Guy driving wraps anchor rope around prop on a boat with a starter problem so he couldn't shut it off. I go to unwrap prop and it takes a little bit of time, I start getting dizzy from carbon monoxide poisoning. Once I realize something serious is wrong with me I try to grab the boat to climb in and couldn't do it. Another guy sees me struggling and snatches me up in the boat. I was seriously out of wack for a good 20 minutes.
  8. Also known as the annual "Time for Jeff Rodgers to Bump up the MM record tournament".
  9. Think of a path, too far to the right of that path and the rope becomes too tight, too far to the left and there's not enough angle to get where you want to go, right in the middle is the yellow brick road.
  10. You could very well be over pulling or loading too hard too soon or trying to establish too much angle into or out of the boat centerline.

    "gear"

@Skijay, I'm about as East Coast as you can get without being in the ocean.

    "gear"

Because I sometimes deal with an inexperienced driver or two, I always say "in gear" so that I have the very best opportunity to have a tight line prior to pull up.....but even in doing that I've had a tournament driver take off from that command with a loose line (f*#@ing idiot). This is something I've started doing after a few hard throttle ups without the line tight jacked my back up.
  13. Everyone on the list at least once (except the spine) plus eardrum and elbow.
  14. I have not had a PB in 10 years, but I'm still trying.
  15. There were some personal best either set or tied. I remember a number of people commenting on that. Some of the Centurian people said it felt like a Carbon Pro. Best score was 3 at 41 at 36. I think it really, really benefits the the slower speed skiers, but it feels great at 34.
  16. The 2014 Mastercraft design team did a fantastic job. That is a great boat. Being in the boat for the first round, I watched everything from 26mph to -39 at 34 mph, I never saw a ski leave the water at the wakes. Then skiing behind it kind of felt like cheating. For the third round we went back to the 2013....it kind of felt like I entered the jumping event by mistake. Skiers are going to love this boat.
  17. Once you heal, you may think about it a set or 2 but as soon as you occupy your mind with skiing, you won't give it a second thought. I bought me a thicker vest the first time I did but I hated it, don't waste your money.
  18. Well if OB and Horton are coming into M4, I'm packing my sheet and heading to M5!
  19. @swc5150 some drivers can do "magic" with a steering wheel in their hand...if they choose to. There have been a number of records denied for boat path.
  20. I know of a few people that have been "encouraged" to start learning the course at -28 at slow speed but I don't know of anyone that has been successful following that advice. Of the ones I know, I can't think of one that has run -32 at speed. I'm just curious if anyone knows of a success story with this method? I'll hang up and listen.
  21. The Masterline rope with the grey thread in it is about as close as I know to finding a perfect slalom rope. I have measured a bunch of them and everyone has been in tolerance and most of them have been very close to perfect. The one I have right now was pulled right out of the bag and skied on and felt great after the first pass.
  22. We had a guy that showed up at our tournaments, was always running 38 at home. I don't think I ever saw him run 35 in about 10-15 rounds. Turned out the course at home was narrow....obviously by more than 3/4 meters. Also I've seen some people really flake out on the starting dock of a tournament. Where I used to think that was a hindrance to performance, I now think it's kind of a performance enhancing drug.
  23. I love the butterflys at the starting dock, I love tournament skiing. I love the atmosphere of tournaments. But I understand why people don't ski them. They do take up a lot of time and make us be away from people that don't want to hang around tournaments all day and they create performance anxieties (that's where the butterflys come from). Sometimes life gets too busy for tournaments. I think @jackski brings up a good point though. The only way you have a good idea whether it's apples to apples is a record tournament or at least a C tournament where REL tournaments are run.....right Dr. Jim? Sorry I need a good Dr Jim reference a couple of times a year.
