  1. @JReed if you are using first gen front animal… plates are interchangeable. All you need is a plate from an older boot that matches the ski’s hole pattern. Have done this back then and have done the opposite lately, put a new HO plate to an animal with the old hole pattern. by the way, I also have the VHS tape that came with the ski and still have a checkered cdx1. I remember that pulling out on your back foot tip…
  2. This is only shrinking our beloved sport… without Freddie, I’m not that interested in watching this year’s Master’s. Broadcasting is not of the quality that we are used to, lately anyway. this is the only power I have as a skier to protest against this decision, no Freddie = no fun = no watching. I wouldn’t attend either if I was lucky enough to live close to the area. The results will be on the IWWF live scoring anyway.
  3. It’s common sense that if you ski on different bindings front and rear, releasing might not be the same for both feet. I’m not suggesting any specific setup, skiing double vapors bolted down could be a good thing, but when skiing in a front vapor with a rear toe loop or r style shell that are both very easy to release from…. You definitely don’t want your front foot to stay in when it does not supposed to. Having one in one out for me is way more dangerous. I totally prefer to check my equipment regularly and use a more complicated release mechanism than risking a one in one out even in simple falls. Problem is that when realizing that you were wrong about your setup, it is already to late and that includes many of us skiers and myself too.
  4. For anyone wanting to test if your distance between the toe bar and the release is right… put the ski on the bench with the boot on (any brand made for reflex system). Hold the toe bar with your hands and puss the tip of your boot, if it moves back, you have an issue and generally if there is play there, you have an issue. I’ve seen it many times and it’s not only dangerous, but also you ski on something with a lot a play and not a good connection while worrying if a thousand of an inch will hinder the performance of your ski. kids and lightweight women usually get away with the play on their boot systems, but still is better to have this fixed. If it’s very hard to clip the realease on the boot… this could also be bad, as it already is under more pressure than the usual and can result in a prerelease.
  5. @Hortoni find the dry land testing very valuable, it can show if the system works right. If it’s too easy or not, to release. But, the muscle strength of the legs don’t replicate the mass of the skier when falling down. I’m not very good at making it release on the dock, I have to try really hard. That being said, when I moved to the radar boot, it was impossible to make the system relaese at 4.5-5 that I had my reflex. I had to go down to 4 which sounds low, but radar cuff is much softer even though I use a lace and the Velcro strap and have zero movement inside the shell. @UWSkier I’m my experience, a lower DIN is needed on the radar boot, are you sure that everything is set up right? Mine sat perfectly on a size 10 reflex plate, but when I setup a size 11 on a radar plate , it wasn’t that easy. At first it had some play and I had to move to the forward hole on the bases… I would try a second release mechanism if you have one. Sometimes it’s what it takes to solve the problem, it might have an issue that is not visible.
  6. I tawt I taw a puddy tat! I’m sorry for this but I couldn’t help it… 😊
  7. I’m not a very big fun of boot pads, especially the thick ones. They tend to stay wet for weeks after use and moisture penetrates the ski surface. I don’t know if this is a thing or it is just non important foggy look or peeled layer, just don’t like to see it on my ski. I use g10 or reflex plates with perfect countersunks and sanded edges and by doing so, my skis look good when I remove the bindings. Not all ski brands have this issue though.

  9. @aupatkingi had written something similar below, but forgot to press the post button.@jimski I was coming back and back to read that you have found the problem and that your motor is running again.
  10. So he and Joel Howley are using the same boot setup..
  11. Some good ideas… just don’t get hurt while trying
  12. Andre, I too thought the view was spectacular, that’s why I posted it. Let me know when you visit Italy and you are welcome to visit us any time. Salt water… yes bit of a hassle to take care of your ski gear. Fresh water is scarce, we have some good fresh water lakes but not as many as we like.
  13. Maybe a motorized or rubber bands on rollers going over bumps version. To simulate wake crossings and a bucket of cold water at each end to simulate OTFs… it only needs someone to design it. 😂
  14. And an aerial of the area! And ski video… IMG_2922.MOV
  15. Or shall I say summer… yesterday, after a a week of bad weather, and possibly more bad weather coming ahead. skiing on my contest win Connelly ski, third set on it and third set of the 2023 life is good!
  16. Dreams scores don’t count… just sayin… my dreams pb is way higher than my practice or tournament
  17. First 2 sets of the year, 20 days after my last set and some back issues. New ski and much colder than last time. Was a bit cautious and little scared as always when I get up on a new ski… especially until my first cut for the gates. Ski is awesome, run my first pass, -28 and most of the rest of the passes @-28 and some -32s at the end. My body hurts now after this 20+ days off and no exercise whatsoever and the cold,.. but it totally worth it. And the ski is a keeper…
  18. Mitutoyo 8”, you only buy it once, dial or digital… you can’t go wrong and it will last forever. If you go digital, better buy the coolant proof model. It’s like buying a good watch that you buy once and will be on your wrist there after. Well… and then you become a hardcore skier and you have to take it off all the time… so don’t know about the watch… but buy the mitutoyo..😊
  19. @BraceMaker I’m not judging Goode skis, I’m not very fond of their finish but they have produced some really good skis overtime. I ski on a Goode, but I would love to have a ski that is as perfect as a Porsche carbon hood. MC looks like that, but at the end of the day I would choose performance over looks, happier when I get both though and Durability, You buy a d3 for example and you will never have to do any repairs apart from just tightening the screws.
  20. I’ve seen a couple of skis of the new model… they are again full carbon finish like the first gen, like the Elite and the Warp and some other great looking skis. Excellent craftsmanship on the carbon, all visible, no car putty and spray paint finish like the previous model. Can’t say if they ski better than the previous models but they definitely have the looks.
  21. @Andre haven’t found the ski that will make me want to change yet. The 2022 vapor was close, but only had a couple of sets and I would have to buy one. Still want to try the Nrgr2 and now that I own this Connelly, I have high hopes and really really want to ski it and hopefully like it and keep it. Don’t change much often when I like a ski. 3 seasons on the Xtr and 4 on the XT prior to that.
  22. Thanks TWBC and Connelly. Just received my Dv8. I have predicted the podium and the score at the last Pro Tour stop. Also many thanks to my friend Konstantinos that brought it back for me.Never had a Connelly before, I’ll go stock for starters, but any suggestions from ballers that know Connelly and Dv8 will be much appreciated. It’s the off season here so I have plenty of time to try skis and settings…
