  1. From a physics standpoint. If fin area and DFT stay the same then the force exerted on the fin by the water should remain approximately constant. Then what changes is the center of force on the fin. If you have a deeper short setting then the center of force will be moved back (further back from the fulcrum) so it should increase torque in a plane perpendicular to the water surface pulling the ski downward in the rear. But also there will be a increase in the torque resisting the rotation of the ski around the buoy for the same reason.
  2. There is also a forward movement, not all side slide. Not sure how that effect things.
  3. Red is always live. Pink is switched. They label it as Vsw. @eleeski
  4. @skijones it fits just a little loser than an Eagle of the same size. If you had an Eagle I'd go with the same size.
  5. @ski6jones I'm 6'2" 170. I have the same problem with vest, wish some of these companies would make long versions. I have a Large Evo now that the length is OK. Could stand to be a little tighter. I like it, I'd buy another. It's a little over a year old, stitching is coming loose one place but other than that it a nice vest.
  6. Found this video of Nate. Check out how far up on the boat he is.
  7. That looks good. Nice rhythm. I like to get more up on the boat. Rich here on the BOS had a suggestion I've tried and like - Go about 20 feet in front of the Gates, Turn early at one ball, try to stay early, usually by 3 or 4 ball I'm going around balls again. Seems like it will help learning new rope lengths.
  8. Looking much smoother. Love the gate, however maybe a little more up on the boat (I try to get at least even with the back of the boat at 28off, near the pole for 32off). Body position much improved. Your finish of the turns look good I think too, the problem is that your giving up too much of the upper body to the boat which causing you to ski narrow and get a little slack out of the turn. I see some outside elbow bend on 135 but on the offside your outside arm is straight which gives a separation with the handle causing to to ski narrow. I try to keep my elbows tight against my ribs through the transition. Any luck at 32off. I keep having good starts but haven't been able to get past 4 ball. Ran it back to back at 32mph but 34mph is still eluding me. Check out the GUT Gate discussion, specifically like the Reverse-C stuff about how the transition is a result of building angle into the CL. There's some really good information there. Stuff I've been working on myself and I've gain some more insight on how to accomplish it. Look for some Adam Caldwell videos for LFF perspective.
  9. @MISkier I had a 96 Suburban that I sold a few years ago with 334,000 miles on the original motor and still going. Rebuilt the transmission at about 165k, other than that it was just routine maintenance, ball joints, brakes, door hinge bushings, etc. Same color as your Tahoe. Replaced it with a 2000 Excursion V10 2wd.
  10. I kinda screwed myself once. We agreed on a price plus shipping. He paid for the ski. I went to find out what shipping was and went ahead and shipped the ski. The guy would never respond to my emails after that. So not all skiers are honest. Get all the money up front.
  11. @Horton do you think a Long shallow setting takes more skill? I was experimenting with longer fin settings and the ski was coming around really nicely in the turn. Tail was definitely riding higher. It felt great in the turns but sketching if I got the least bit forward at the wakes.
  12. Some of my best skiing was on a Connelly HP. A college teammate was getting into 38off on his although he told me his were not stock.
  13. I had a similar ski must have been 1980 give or take. Seems like mine had a rounded tip. It was a great ski unfortunately it was stolen.
  14. KC Wilson is a RFF that gets up on the front of the ski a little more. Regardless of the way they turn in, the end result is the same. They all get over the ski in the cutting phase.
  15. Hope you find another partner. More time for kayaking. One of my other activities is whitewater canoeing.
  16. @Greg Lukin Those 4 connectors go to the ZO harness below the dash. The pic above shows the connectors for only one end of the Single Puck Harness. The other end of this harness has a single rectangular connector that plugs into the Single puck.
  17. @skibrain I agree, there is so much focus on these expensive new boats. Even some of the runabouts are getting expensive. My friend just spent 65k on pontoon boat. I had a blast as a kid skiing in the river behind a 25hp flat bottom boat. There's some good deals on older used ski boats that you can have a lot of fun with, you can add speed control for $1000 or less. Or society is focused on keeping up with "keeping up with the Jones". All that said I think there is more to it than money. Seems a lot of people don't leave there living rooms for entertainment these days.
  18. I'm on Reflex SuperShell with R-style and have had good luck. I tried the OB4 set up when it first came out and had some problems but I think the MOB version has addressed most of the concerns I had. In my opinion there is good argument to say it if the safest set available. There's some old threads on here talking about double boots such as the Fogmann or Goode where the boots are connected together and release together. In a crushing fall, which you kinda had there, they are a worst case scenario where the lift of the back foot drives the front foot into the ski. I think your safer on rubber bindings in a crushing type fall. PM me if you want to discuss any of this further.
  19. My ski hasn't been coming around like I wanted lately so I decided to try some adjustments, I moved the fin back about 10 thousands and added a few thousands of length to make it equal to what I had in my notes. The ski was coming around beautifully but it was riding uncomfortable flat cutting. I took a bad OTF on the second pass. I ended up sking ok after that just had to really be careful to not get over the front cutting. I tried another small adjustment and ski was over turning again. It surprising how a little change can make the ski fell so different. I'm putting it back to the original settings and do some Fin Whisperer reading to see where to go next.
  20. I have a little convection oven that sets on the counter. Looks like a large glass bowl. I use that more than anything now. I only fire up the gas grill for friends or family.
  21. I have a Ez-slalom compact as well. We only used it during the week. Lake patrol has driven by several times and just waved. We never left it in for more than a couple of hours. Years ago I had a floating course that we pulled the gates balls and turn buoys and left the rest in the water. Main lines were stainless. It was a good size lake so it didn't restrict traffic any.
