  1. Had a magazine subscription for many years and then went with the online version which I wasn't keen on. Odd how I am still getting emails from Waterski mag (Bonnier) "Tell us your boating habits & enter to win $100 gift card" received a few minutes ago
  2. 3 Sisters ski club in England ran a Pro-Am with this format in 2009 & 10, they were great competitions where the Pros and Ams really mixed in well.
  3. https://www.instagram.com/p/BdqvARFhCy1/?taken-by=gonepatrol This happened to me once but I was only wearing shorts, didn't even get into the course before having to let go.
  4. As soon as I finish my Christmas gifts
  5. My Mapple 6.0 whistled on my offside turn when I put washers under the fin to tune my onside turn.
  6. I am on my second Denali, this one is taking a bit longer to tune in but I can feel it's potential and I am sticking with it as the customer service and tuning advice is second to none. Where else would you get a set up change based on your feelings from a set at 11am and ski with the new settings at 2pm after a quick email, not to mention I am in the UK and probably caught Adam before his first cup of coffee
  7. I set my fins up stock for years and was stuck at running 28 off a handful of times a year until I did a demo day with Andy who set my fin up for me and I then ran more 28's in the next 2 weeks than I had in my life and 32 went down the following year. So yes I would say at 22 through 32 we still need good fin settings, that is why I pester @AdamCord all the time for my Denali settings as I have had the experience of the difference it can make, just wish I could understand how it works.
  8. Broke a Reflex spring and luckily not my neck, broke the Scottish +65 record twice, broke a ski.
  9. I tried a Mapple 6.0 and a T3 over the past two weekends, after 2 sets on the 6.0 my legs felt heavy and after 3 sets on the T3 this weekend I can feel every muscle in my upper back complaining, I felt I skied well on the Mapples but definitely not as easy on the body as my Denali.
  10. Woo Hoo 18th of 115, highest I have ever came or likely to come in a ski competition. Great idea @JeffSurdej it was fun
  11. Looks like Radar are testing an air model as well, could be the future
  12. The head to head is now archived on their website and there are some good videos from the boat here https://www.andymapplepro-am.com/video-gallery
  13. Start to reach as soon as you are through the entrance gates, I was foolish enough to try it and it was the last time I ever listened to that coach.
  14. An update on the competition, Mike ran 3 @ 12 metres 55kph, tricked 3,610 and jumped 25.5 metres. Picture by www.skiable.co.uk
  15. Picture is of competitors in an upcoming tournament at Hazelwood's England, Mick (Mike) has already scored 2,860 in a trick event earlier this year, looking forward to see what he can do in jump and slalom with all the new technology.
  16. Update on the Reflex spring breaking 2 weeks ago today, thought I was lucky not to break anything although I did twist my knee, neck, abs, groin and shoulder, possibly the worst crash in my history. New spring fitted and I am back on the water it took a couple of sets to get my confidence back but the worst part is I seem to have lost a lot of strength and balance and although I am running passes they don't feel right. I have dropped my speed to 32mph to try to get some consistency and although it seems to be working it has put me in two minds whether to stick at 32mph for the rest of the season as I am 65 and will be doing ranking competitions at this speed but I really wanted to do more at 34mph this year.
  17. I think this picture was partly responsible for the new rules being put in place.
  18. @John Brooks if you look down inside the body you will see the arms that hold the nut you screw into have expanded and the spring won't go over it, if you pull the body towards you the arms will close and you can push the spring over it, any problems pm me and I will take some pics of how to do it. @aupatking you don't have to pop any pins just pull back the top cap and the spring will come out
  19. I was under the impression when I bought the 750 that all the internals were stainless steel but looking on their website it is only the screw but the spring should have an upgraded coating.
  20. I took a pretty bad fall last week due to a pre-release from my reflex binding, I checked my release settings and needed 2 turns on the screw to get set up properly but this took the setting to 9 way above my normal setting, so I stripped down the release to check the spring and found it to be broken in 3 places. I didn't expect this after only 9 months of use as I previously used 404s for 15 years and never had a spring break. I contacted Reflex and they immediately sent me out a new spring but I am posting this to show it can happen and hope everyone will check their springs more often and avoid some nasty crashes.
  21. Personally I wouldn't go back to the 404, I had 12 years of no problems on the the 404's then a spate of breakages and a lot of pain from the ensuing crashes. I always visually inspected the releases but could never spot any problems but as 404's are now old any stress that has cracked the chrome plating will result in corrosion on the welded section whether the release is being used or not and result in a weak spot which is prone to break, my stock of 404's are now on trick skis. If cost is a problem go onto EBay or snow ski sites and look for Silvretta Easy Go bindings and you should get a pair for a reasonable price and maybe even a pair of skis thrown in.
