  1. @RichardDoane OMG!!!! I get it now!!! So.... we combine some of the smaller states into one tournament. Maybe we can call it REGIONALS
  2. State tournaments are a joke. Most will only have a few skiers per group. Hey everyone!!!! I won states!!!! (but had no one to ski against) Look at my trophy!!!!
  3. @Mark_Matis I think each SITE should have Nationals. All on the same day. That would be awesome and the travel budget would not have to be huge. AND I think our site could be done in three hours or less and still have three events. Now all I have to do is figure out what band I want to play the after party. Where is that sarcasm font??
  4. Sooooo now it looks like passes skied above divsion max will not be scored at the higher speed????? Or am I reading it wrong? WOW
  5. It really amazes me that we have all these great ideas to save the sport, and they are already in place. @BG1 you do realize that any top five finish in any event stj or overall at regional gets you a ticket to nats. And, any score past the cut off date for nationals, that exceeds the cut off score, in any tournament, also gets you into nats
  6. @RazorRoss3 Have you ever thought that if you were LFF that you might run -38 instead of just -35
  7. @WBLskier The total number of regional skiers exceeds the skiers from nationals. Regionals should be used as a building block to get lower ranked skiers ready for the next step. Nationals. There is already a method to allow you to skip regionals. Get a OPEN rating. I agree with @Bruce_Butterfield. Decide what nationals is. Right now, as it is, I look at it as the best of the best. In that scenario regionals should be required. Regionals is like the playoffs. @bigtex2011 show me any sport that a team gets a "bye" all the way to the championship game.
  8. The cost to attend three class l/r events would offset the cost of the single regional. All the slalom skiers on here continue to forget about the three event skiers. Outside of regionals, how many three event class l/r events are in each region. The south has some but the rest of the regions do not. Most l/r events are two day events. The cost in entry fee and lodging would exceed the cost of three local single day events class c.
  9. I have nine for a slalom course and two jump course magnets. We are all zero off now so they are available. Let me know if needed
  10. I get the fun part of it....... but do you expect people to pay to ski in this??
  11. @Klinger The tolerance allows for anything between 10 and 16 feet inside the current red ball. Close enough. Go find some kids to ski.
  12. @ToddL I dont get it. All over this site people complain that there are too many rules. Too many judges, Too much cost to host tournaments. Surveys of the course, end course and boat video. Here is a rule that gives you +/- 1 meter to increase the fun of the sport to the entry level skier that will not impact the results of a college tournament. Now it appears that you want a standard. REALLY. Throw some addtional buoys in, get a few beginner skiers, ski and have fun. 7.5 meters +/- 1 meter is perfect. Anything between 10 and 16 feet inside the existing turn ball is perfect. Here is a idea...... use a rope segment from a long line to a -15 segment. Put one end on the turn ball and the other end at your new mini ball. DONE. It really does not have to be this hard.
  13. In the past, only US citizens were allowed to ski nationals. I hope that continues.
  14. @Zman obviously you have not been to a college tournament in a long time. (If ever) look at all the scores with less than a full pass. This new rule might be one of the best things to happen to skiing in a long time. This in no way is close to the zbs rule which can easily be fixed by making max speed to the current max of the division.
  15. @Horton OMG ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! If that does not get a quadruple panda......there is a real problem. I think I might have to go back to skifly. @disland I love you man
  16. If I am not mistaken, at that time, the big three boat companies all were involved. Skiers had the choice of which brand to ski behind.
  17. @Bruce_Butterfield I think I know. He has the same first name as another Big Dawg stop winner.
  18. @kelvin I have been wondering about that also. I think the 6.0L (409) is the standard motor now that the 5.7 has been discontinued. The 5.3 is the first upgrade and the 6.2 is the most expensive. I think the 5.3 has higher torque than the 6.0. Our last one we got the 5.3. It is a huge improvement for jump (180+/-) over the 5.7 I was not able to get the homeowners to pay the addtional cost for the 6.2 One other thing to think about, is that I dont think the 6L direct inject.
  19. Not ski related but a friend of mine named his dog "come here"
  20. @tjm @MattP is like @Horton s son. He can do as he wants
  21. Keep in mind that most car engines don't see the higher rpm that marine engines are subjected to. That can decrease oil life. 70mph in my trucks turns less than 2,000 rpm
  22. The easiest way is to send them back to Darren at wileys. I lot less frustration in your life. I always had my kids in rubber Wiley bindings as they were growing up. Each February i would pull the bindings off the slalom, trick, and jumpers and have them put new rubber on with the existing hardware. I have some plates marked Xxs Xs S M L Darren saved me thousands of $$$$ over the years on bindings.
  23. @andjules you must have missed the USA girls third place finish in tricks. The team overall is calculated using the top three scores from the six person team in each event. Note that a country can have more than six skiers if a "individual" has a world ranking high enough to compete, but not be part of the six mmember "team". I think the USA had two skiers that were in that category.
  24. @wtrskior are we talking sports in general, or water skiing specifically? Not sure I understand your "sour grapes" comment. I was not vested in this tournament on a personal level other than having a interest in how each team performed.
  25. @wtrskior as a dad of a skier that has competed recently for team USA at several international events, there is no financial help given. Some of the coaches will give reduced training costs. @Jody_Seal said some of the regions may have a scholarship program, it amounts to a few hundred dollars. @Bruce_Butterfield start saving your money for Zack and Krista. My guess is that each family from Team USA had out of pocket cost for this single event of about 3-5k. Looks like the USA underperformed in Boys tricks. Overall team points between 1st and 4th were less than 220 points.
