@skialex do you realize that .003 is about the thickness of a piece of paper. The instrument is only as good as the user. Most of you are worried about the wrong thing. I only use my CMM to set fins I would look for carbide tips on calipers. They are difficult to find but will last forever.

At that age, and the rate of growth and improvement, you wont get 3 years out of any ski. If they are not in the course yet, stay on what they are on. At slow speeds and long lines, the skis are not the factor. Teach them proper body position. Or...... Just go out and buy them the most expensive ski you can find.

@thompjs there has been a trend recently to build a lip or Kicker into the last few feet. Not saying it is right, but is is going on.

@drago, The way a team gets to nationals, is thru winning your regionals. There will only be five teams at nationals. One from each region.

@Edbrazil this is the same way it has been for a good number of years. They cover the cost of the elite but none of the costs for U13, U17 or U21. My son has been a member of the U17 U21 team as well as the U21 world team. No funds for any part of the trips. Parents are on the hook for everything including tournament fees, and all travel, hotel, food, and practice.

I taught my 5 year old sister with a 12 foot meyer rowboat and a 6hp Johnson. -

Bad when the boat runs but you can't ski because of a speed control problem. Technology is great. Did you forget how to hand drive??

@JeffSwain when you say "private" lake are you talking about a private man made lake designed for watersking? Or are you talking about a natural lake with no public boat ramp. Huge differance in what you might be able to enforce. -
Crazy that some are still in school at age 24 and 25. I think that is the bigger problem. I like the five year eligibility starting at no later than age 19. Can't ski past age 23.

For several years of seemed like hp and stilettos were the only skis out.

@klindy he still remembers your advice many jumps and years ago. "Hit the middle". In the early years so many people would ask why he jumped below max speed. I always said it was more important to jump safe.

@jedgell ask a former baller named Brett. I think he got jailed for talking negatively about a sponsor of the site. That's the same reason that every review tells you how great the new product is. I don't necessarily agree with that, and try to read between the line. Sorry that @ewishan has the same problem that others have expressed here recently.

I like to use stainless eyehooks into concrete. They don't rust or corrode like rebar. I also like plastic chain instead of PVC adjusters and rope. More expensive but worth it.

@coxjon what is your weight. With your height my guess is that you should be on a bigger ski at that slower speed.
