  1. Lake is making ice as we speak in Northern Illinois
  2. @BraceMaker Slap a blower on a 6.2 and I think you would be good to go.
  3. Slightly off topic. We were using an 18 Response on our lake and noticed the (very) soft acceleration. In playing around with the menu I noticed there was a setting for throttle aggressiveness. I didn't try playing with the setting but am curious if this would give a better hole shot.
  4. I guess I have a bit of Dad goggles on with the WB. If he lands and then has to push the ski to the full 180, would that still count? Thanks for the clarification and the advise, this is the right time of year for playing around.
  5. I will preface this by saying I am not complaining about trick judging at all, just looking for an understanding of why a trick might not be counted so I can better coach my son. At nationals this year my son (B1) stood up his run but did not get credit for his wake back. In trying to coach him it would be helpful to get some insight as to why this trick was not scored. He does the WB at the end of both videos. Any help is appreciated. http://www.waterskiresults.com/WfwWeb/wfwShowTourScores.php#&ui-state=dialog Nationals Trick Round 1 B1 Andrew Bojan
  6. Thanks @Bruce_Butterfield He made the move from LL to 15 off this year as well as moving from a 63” Radar TRA to a 63.5” Vapor. The ski seems to work very well for him, great turns and solid angle through the wakes. We have also worked on getting wide on the gates, he could still get wider, but is not what I would consider narrow.
  7. I am looking for a little help in coaching my son. He is 10 years old (last year in B1) getting into 30 mph in the course. He has a tendency to revert back to pulling hard well beyond the second wake (even when he doesn't need to) and making a big turn. He is able to handle this in calm water but with a wind it really throws him off. I have tried explaining the concept of edge change and he gets the idea, but in practice saying change edges earlier is not actionable for him. How do you coach this for kids? Thanks for any help
  8. I will be there with my son (boys 1). Looking forward to our first experience at Nationals.
  9. Northern Illinois, 60' deep old quarry. Water is ~82.
  10. agree with @liquid d That is what I used to do, it worked well.
  11. I am interested in this bag but there are no pictures of the inside. Does anyone have a picture of the bag open? I am curious if there are pockets for organizing your gear.
  12. We have been dealing with milfoil for the last 10 years treating key areas of the lake with Navigate (granular 2,4-d). This year we decided to treat the perimeter of the whole lake ourselves using liquid 2,4-d ammine. Very cost effective and seems to be working very well.
  13. @thager thanks, but I already ordered one.
  14. @oldjeep thanks, I didn't think about the spark safe aspect. I guess we will charge the battery daily until we can get a new alternator delivered.
  15. Does anyone have a part number or link to an alternator for a 2009 196 with the 5.7? Can I get one from the local auto parts store?
  16. 65" or 66" Radar Senate would be a great choice for them. Given their height and assuming they will be bulking up a 66" may be the better choice.
  17. I am also not a short line skier and would regularly ski behind ZBox (primary) and ZO (2 puck) on occasion. I could feel the difference between the 2 but it wasn't a huge change and was able to adapt quickly. What really threw me off was going to tournaments and getting behind a single puck ZO. I felt that was a much bigger difference and harder to adapt to.
  18. @ScottScott congrats! @JeffSurdej I love the idea of PB stickers, my son will think that is very cool.
  19. I see on the Nationals schedule for Slalom Thursday goes Girls 2 then IG and IB. What are IG and IB?
  20. Filming skiers from the boat inevitably results in shaky at best video. The Wakeye always gets a good shake if the skier has any slack and when filming by hand the camera operator usually ends up with some shake or a finger in view. Does anyone have any experience with a hand held gimbal like this one? https://www.dji.com/osmo-mobile-2 If you could rig up a way to mount this on a wakeye, would it improve the video quality?
  21. My son, who is 10 now, learned to slalom on the TRA, great ski, very stable and forgiving. I think this ski has a lot to do with the progress he has made in the last 2 years. It instills confidence because it never surprises them but will perform when pushed unlike a slalom out of a combo set. Last year he was getting through 26 mph and especially at higher speeds it looked as though he was having to force the turn to gain angle, I felt the ski was starting to hold him back a bit so we upgraded to a Vapor this year. The TRA is a great, affordable starter ski. Your son will love it.
